FOR MAYOR OF BEND, OREGON
Bend is ready for a
fresh start.
We need the honesty to say the status quo isn't working.
We need the humility to admit what City Hall has gotten wrong.
We need the resolve to make City Hall work for us again.
Nonpartisan Mayor of Bend November 3, 2026

Bernadette Strome is a Bend native, mom of four, small business owner, and your neighbor. I'm running for mayor because City Hall should work for the people who live here, not the parties that endorse it.

Rooted here. Working for the people of Bend.

Bernadette grew up in Bend, went to Bend High, studied at COCC, and has spent years running small businesses right here in town, from a Northwest Crossing cafe to a vintage denim shop. She's raised four kids in this community and felt the same cost-of-living squeeze so many Bend families are living through right now.

Bernadette is running because City Hall has drifted away from the people it's supposed to serve and she believes a neighbor with real, lived experience is exactly what this moment calls for.

"I believe that local government should serve the people who actually live here. I'm not running as a partisan politician but as a neighbor who is loyal to the people of Bend."

Bend Can Do Better.

Concrete priorities, not bumper stickers.
Here's what Bernadette will focus on from day one.

Bend shouldn't price out the people who built it. Bernadette will push for housing policies that make renting and owning realistic for working families - not just luxury builds and vacation rentals.

Cut the friction for local entrepreneurs to open, grow, and stay. Sustainable jobs start with a city government that gets out of the way instead of adding layers.

Shift priorities back to the residents. Practical problem-solving, the kind that starts with actually hearing what neighborhoods need instead of what Salem politicians or advocates want.

City spending should make life easier for residents, not harder. Bernadette will bring the same discipline to City Hall that every Bend family already practices at their kitchen table.

The Truth About Bend’s Homeless Shelters

To the average taxpayer, the City of Bend’s approach to homelessness feels like an endless cycle of funding requests, listening to bureaucratic promises, and walking past the exact same visible street encampments on the way to work.
